About CheckItAll.net

Independent pet insurance comparisons for US pet owners — free to use, no hidden agendas.

Our Mission

We started CheckItAll.net because we kept hearing the same complaint from friends and family: pet insurance is confusing. Providers use different words for the same things. Deductibles work differently than human health insurance. Pre-existing condition definitions vary wildly. And the marketing makes everything sound like a great deal until you read the fine print.

Our mission is straightforward. We want every US pet owner to understand their insurance options clearly — without needing an insurance license to decode the paperwork. We research providers, compare coverage details, and explain the differences in plain English. What you do with that information is up to you.

Who We Are

We are a small team of researchers and writers based in the United States. Our backgrounds include financial services, journalism, and animal welfare. Several of us have pets of our own — dogs and cats covered under exactly the kinds of policies we compare on this site.

We operate independently. No insurance company owns us, funds us, or has a seat on our team. Our revenue comes from reader clicks and purchases — the same model used by Consumer Reports, NerdWallet, and other independent review sites. This alignment of incentives is deliberate.

What We Do

Research Providers

We review pet insurance companies based on coverage options, pricing, customer reviews, and industry complaint data from NAIC.

Compare Options

We build comparison tables that show monthly premiums, deductibles, reimbursement rates, and coverage limits side by side.

Explain Jargon

We define terms like pre-existing condition, look-back period, and reimbursement percentage so you know what you are actually buying.

Update Regularly

We revise our content when providers change their terms, add new coverage options, or raise premiums.

How We Fund Operations

CheckItAll.net earns commissions when you click through to an insurance provider and purchase a policy. This is how most independent review sites stay in business, and we are transparent about it.

Here is what this means in practice: we have an incentive to send you to providers who will pay us. We also have an incentive to send you to providers who will actually convert — meaning readers who purchase and stay. Providers who have confusing claims processes, poor customer service, or misleading marketing tend to have low conversion rates, which means we do not send them much traffic.

Important: Our rankings and comparisons are based on research criteria we define — not on which provider pays us the most. If a provider that pays us less offers genuinely better coverage for a specific situation, we will say so.

What We Are Not

We are not an insurance company, broker, or agent. We do not sell policies, process claims, or provide insurance advice. Our content is for informational and comparative purposes.

For specific insurance decisions — particularly if you have a pet with existing health conditions — we recommend speaking with a licensed insurance professional who can assess your situation. We provide the research; the decision is yours.

Our Approach to Content

  • -Independence: Rankings are based on objective research criteria, not commission rates.
  • -Transparency: We disclose how we make money and how we source our data.
  • -Accuracy: We cite sources, date our information, and correct errors when we find them.
  • -Clarity: We explain insurance concepts in plain English, not industry jargon.

Why Pet Insurance Matters

A single emergency vet visit can cost $3,000 to $7,000. Major surgery for a condition like hip dysplasia runs $3,000 to $6,000 or more. Even routine care adds up: annual exams, vaccinations, and preventive medications typically cost $500 to $1,500 per year for a single dog.

Pet insurance will not cover everything, and it is not the right choice for every pet owner. But for those who want protection against unexpected veterinary bills — and for owners of breeds with known hereditary conditions — the right policy can mean the difference between making a decision based on cost and making the best medical decision for their pet.

We help you understand what policies actually cover, what they cost, and how to choose among them. Compare pet insurance providers to see current rates and coverage options.
